PRAISE THE LORD (148:1-14):
Psalm 148 is another psalm of worship. The author called on the angels, human beings, and all elements of creation to praise their Creator.
All these beings and things owe their existence and design to God.
Nothing and no one is excluded from this call to worship.
Kings of the earth, mountains, sea creatures, mighty cedar trees, tiny insects, young men, old men, even spiritual beings that dwell in heaven, all owe their admiration and devotion to God.
“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven” (148:13).
APPLICATION:
A lot of churches are moving away from the older hymns because they’re not as trendy.
But let me encourage you not to be too quick to discard them.
There are some excellent and lyrically rich hymns from the past that are just as worthy of being sung today as they were when they were written.
One such hymn is Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah by Fanny Crosby based on Psalm 148.
