Matthew 23 - Jesus pronounces 7 woes against the scribes and Pharisees and laments over the wickedness of Jerusalem.

Matthew 22 - The parable of the wedding feast, paying taxes to Caesar, the Sadducees ask a question about the resurrection, and Jesus clarifies the greatest commandment in the Law.

Matthew 21 - The triumphal entry, Jesus cleanses the Temple, Jesus curses the fig tree, the parable of the two sons, and the parable of the wicked tenants.

Matthew 20 - The parable of the laborers in the vineyard, Jesus foretells His death, James and John’s mother asks Jesus to honor her sons, and Jesus heals 2 blind men.

Matthew 19 - Jesus taught about marriage and divorce, invited children to spend time with Him, and spoke with a rich young ruler who struggled with loving money.

Matthew 18 - Jesus described the “greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” He talked about personal sin and those who cause others to sin, the parable of the lost sheep, and the parable of the unforgiving servant.

Matthew 17 - The transfiguration of Jesus, Jesus healed a boy with a demon, and He discussed the Temple tax with Peter.

Matthew 16 - In this chapter, the Pharisees and Sadducees asked Jesus to show them a sign. Jesus told them they would only receive the sign of the prophet Jonah. Later, Jesus confessed that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God. Then Jesus told His followers they must take up their cross and follow Him.

Matthew 15 - In chapter 15, Jesus confronted the Pharisees and scribes over their devotion to tradition and disregard for God’s commands. In the region of Tyre and Sidon, Jesus healed the daughter of a Canaanite woman. At the end of the chapter, Jesus fed 4,000 men with 7 loaves of bread and a few small fish.

Matthew 14 - John the Baptist is killed by Herod Antipas for condemning his marriage to Herodias. Jesus feeds the 5,000 before walking on water to meet the Apostles on the Sea of Galilee.

Matthew 13 - Jesus taught His disciples in parables: (1) The parable of the sower, (2) the parable of the weeds and the wheat, (3) the parable of the mustard seed, (4) the parable of the hidden treasure, (5) the parable of the pearl of great price, (6) the parable of the net. The chapter closes with Jesus preaching in Nazareth and being rejected by His countrymen.

Matthew 12 - Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath. In chapter 12, Jesus talked about blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, healed a man with a withered hand, talked about the sign of Jonah, and was visited by his mother and brothers.

Matthew 11 - John the Baptist sends messengers to Jesus to ask Him if He is the Christ. Jesus spoke to the people about John’s ministry and commended John for his service to God. Jesus then condemns unrepentant cities who resisted His teaching, and invited the weary to come to Him for rest.
