Haste (70:1) – To do something quickly or to move hurriedly.
OUTLINE:
MAKE HASTE TO DELIVER ME (70:1-5):
David called on God to come to his aid with “haste.”
“Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me!” (70:1).
Men were trying to harm David, and they gloated every time they got the better of him with shouts of “Aha, Aha!”
David wanted God to shame those who would do harm to him. He asked God to dishonor those who delighted in hurting him.
He prayed for everyone who was oppressed to find gladness in God.
“May those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!”
APPLICATION:
Do you have any enemies trying to get the better of you, maybe even trying to kill you?
I promise you that you do!
“Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
He relishes his victories over you with shouts of “Aha, Aha!” He loves accusing us of sin. He wants our sins to destroy us.
Let me encourage you to write this psalm down on a piece of paper and put it in your wallet or your purse or the back of your phone case.
When you sense the lion on the prowl, pull it out and pray it.
“Hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay!” (70:5).
